ENPAC®
Creep(7/12) and Transition(12/17)
Pelleted Pig Starters
ENPAC® pelleted pig starters
are designed for pigs as small as 7 pounds. They are
nutrient dense diets that include dried whey, lactose,
menhaden fish meal and spray dried porcine plasma along
with other quality ingredients. ENPAC Creep(7/12) can
be used to get pigs started eating before weaning, or
as a first feed in an early weaning program. ENPAC Transition(12/17)
should follow as the second phase of an early weaning
program. Typical analysis for each starter feed is shown
below:

The Hormel Feed Division
also offers two other pelleted pig starters [ENPAC Start
(17/25) and ENPAC Grow (25/50) ] for pigs from 17 to
50 pounds body weight or grind and mix products to build
complete meal starters from for those heavier weight
ranges. FORWARD PASS® Pig Starter Supplement or
KICKOFF Pig Starter Base Mix are suggested products
phase 3 and phase 4 starter diets.
ENPAC Creep(7/12) and ENPAC Transition(12/17) are both
products that have been developed and tested over many
years to insure that they are high performance products
that will get small pigs off to a fast start in life.
While results will vary from farm to farm, depending
on facilities, genetics, health and environment the
blend of blend of the correct quality ingredients helps
insure that nutrition is not the factor holding pigs
back. In addition Hormel continues to test potential
improvements to existing formulas that show promise
of improving production performance even more. Both
the phase 1 and phase 2 starters typically include Tiamulin
and Chlortetracycline as additives. They can be made
with different, or no additives, upon request. ENPAC
Creep is made in what Hormel calls a mini die (3/32
inch). ENPAC Transition (12/17) is normally in a 1/8
inch die.
Many producers feed about
1 pound of ENPAC Creep (7/12) and 2 pounds of ENPAC
Transition (12/17) before going to grind and mix diets
for phase 2 and phase 4 diets. Hormel has just completed
some interesting test work at the University of Wisconsin
- Platteville where the amount of pellets fed in phase
1 and 2 diets is more like the suggested diets shown
below. Some significant performance improvements were
seen. Ask your local Hormel Feed Division representative
about these results.
